| Plant and animal life |
 |

Out of the mineral contrasts
comes a great diversity of landscapes: flat grasslands,
moors and humid ground.
Here thrives an extensive
animal life: ibex,
chamois, hares, stoats, black grouse, grouse, (or
ptarmigan), hazel grouse, merle de roche, tichodrome,
golden eagle, bearded vultures, not forgetting batrachians
and insects of many sorts, including a multitude
of butterflies such as Apollon to name but one,
and domestic bees that produce honey of the highest
quality.
The rich plant life in Plassy
is quiet exceptional, and the most emblematic of
Alpine species are all respresented:
gentians, Martagon and Saint Bruno lis, anemones
and two rare types of primroses, orchids and over
17 protected species. In
total there are more that 530 plant species have
been indexed. |
