Via Ferrata

Définition
Via Ferrata originated in Italy, and are routes across the rock faces equipped with cables and ladders, monkey bridges and passages that are high up and sometimes a little acrobatic.

History of Via Ferrata
Via Ferrata began in the Italian dolomites during the First World War with the sole purpose of transporting artillery and soldiers.
Nowadays they are a way of introducing hikers to the rock-climbers terrain. This is a new fun mountain sport, which has managed to establish itself half-way between rock-climbing and hiking.
