Local Heritage Associations

Three associations work towards keeping Passy's history alive and continually remind its inhabitants, old and young and for all those who have an attachment to this vast territory of the importance of the past.

  CHePP : culture, history and heritage of Passy.
This association publishes the paper " Vatusium " which deals with the history and heritage of the commune, as well as leading other operations. On sale at the Tourist Office.

Centre de recherche et d'études sur l'histoire d'Assy.
This association, the research and study centre of Assy's past tells the history of life on the Plateau d'Assy, on its sanatoriums, its church, and publishes a review called : CREHA which is on sale at the Tourist Office.

Mémoire de l'usine de Chedde 
This association fervently keeps the history of the Chedde finial factory alive (last century). Its past, and its economic importance on the area are worthy of mentioning. The book : Chedde : un siècle d'industrie au Pays du Mont-Blanc is on sale at the Tourist Office.

Folklore, a living tradition
The rich cultural heritage of dancing, songs and costumes is kept well alive thanks to two dynamic folklore groups:

PASSY was once on the main throughfare used by travellers (the Romans, Napoléon and his men, Victor Hugo... ) all of whom wished to reach the Chamonix valley. This is where the name of the group comes from !
